Dear readers of the Mongolian Mining Journal,

Dear readers of the  Mongolian Mining  Journal,

Honored participants of the “Mongolia Mining Investment 2010” Forum in Sydney, Australia,
First of all, on behalf of the Foreign Investment and Foreign Trade Agency of Mongolia, let me convey my sincere greetings to all of you.
The upcoming investment event in Sydney is being organized at a particular time when strategically important mineral deposits of Mongolia have captured the attention of global business community and when the Oyu Tolgoi Investment Agreement has just been signed.
The Government of Mongolia has been consistently pursuing an active policy to attract foreign direct investment over the years. I am confident that the present forum will provide a good opportunity for you to explore avenues of expanding your business through investing in Mongolia, a country at the doorstep of its accelerated development.
Although the Mongolian economy was not immune to the recent global financial and economic crisis, due to swift and effective policy measures taken by the Government its impact has been less acute as compared to some developed economies.
The GDP per capita in Mongolia has been steadily increasing over the years reaching at present approximately US$ 2000. According to preliminary estimates of international financial and other evaluation organizations till 2015 our GDP real growth is projected at up to 12 percent annually with an expansion of overall GDP to US$10 billion.
Mining is a priority sector in Mongolian economy accounting currently for about 30 percent of the gross domestic product, 65 percent of the industrial output and more than 80 percent of our export.
Dear readers of “Mongolian Mining Journal” and investors, by investing in Mongolia you will enjoy simultaneously many benefits, including that of the country’s strategic location, accessibility of markets, vast reserves of mineral resources, strong legal protection of foreign investment and cheapest costs of conducting business and availability of young, educated and skilled professional staff of our country.
I invite you to consider engaging in developing mutually advantageous cooperation through investing in specific projects developed in the priority sectors of the Mongolian economy, i.e. mining, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, light industry, human development and environmental protection.
The Foreign Investment and Foreign Trade Agency of Mongolia is willing to provide you with every assistance in starting and expanding your business in our country.  You are most welcome to visit our website www.investmongolia.com to get the latest information on the Government policy and measures related to foreign direct investment as well as on various events organized by our Agency.
Looking forward to our fruitful cooperation,

Sincerely,
Baasankhuu Ganzorig
