“Our main advantage is our experience in Mongolia”

The Liebherr Group, comprising more than 120 companies and with 60 years of experience, has been working in Mongolia since 2002, with Monnis as its official distributor. During Future Mongolia, MMJ asked Axel Dolcken, General Manager, Earth Moving & Mining Division,Liebherr Exports, about his company and the partnership in Mongolia.

How long has your company been in Mongolia?

We have been operating here since 2002 together with our official distributor Monnis. We started with many kinds of construction and mining equipment and in the 10 years since then, we have expanded our range of services, including ensuring proper performance of the machines.

Where else in the world is Liebherr present?

We have more than 120 companies on all continents. The countries include Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Australia, Indonesia and many others all over the world. We have either our own company or distributors.

Liebherr was one of the first companies in the field in Mongolia but now you have a number of competitors. What are your comparative advantages?

Our main advantage is our experience in Mongolia. Also, it is very important for our customers that we have our service organisations here, offering spare parts locally and arranging training for people.

Why did Liebherr choose to work with Monnis?

Monnis has the same business attitude that Liebherr has. Our aim is not just to sell machines, but to provide a whole range of services. You need a partner with a similar mindset and for us that is Monnis in Mongolia.

Tell us a little more about your company.

We produce the components -- engines, swing rings and other stuff --of our equipment in our own factories. These are mainly in Europe, in Germany, France, and Austria. But we have factories in Brazil, the USA and China also.
Today Liebherr is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of construction and mining machinery and employs approx. approx. 33.000 people worldwide. The most special thing about it is that it remains a family-owned company.
