THE INVESTMENT AGREEMENT WILL BE SIGNED ON JANUARY 17

The Government of Mongolia has decided to sign an Investment Agreement with Orano Mining on January 17.

This decision was made during the Government meeting held on January 14. The Government authorized several key officials to sign the agreement on behalf of Mongolia, including:

• N. Uchral, Minister of Mongolia and Chief of the Cabinet Secretariat;
• B. Javkhlan, Minister of Finance;
• Ts. Tuvaan, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources;
• S. Odontuya, Minister of Environment and Climate Change;
• G. Manlaijav, Secretary of the Nuclear Energy Commission;
• S. Narantsogt, CEO of Erdenes Mongol LLC.

The agreement will be signed with Orano Mining, a French-registered company investing in the Mongolian-French joint venture, Badrakh Energy LLC.

On December 25, 2024, the Government of Mongolia submitted a draft resolution to the State Great Khural to discuss the Investment Agreement. The draft was approved by 79.3% of members during a plenary session on January 10, 2025. This agreement represents the second-largest investment between Mongolia and a third country.
