Ray Dorosan, Regional Manager, Kito Crosby
How do you see the Mongolian market for Kito Crosby?
One of our key market segments is the mining industry. We supply a wide range of lifting hardware, including manual and electric chain hoists. Mongolia's mining sector holds significant potential for our products Our equipment is recognized worldwide for its superior quality and safety standards, which we believe will help create a safer working environment here.
What are your future plans in Mongolia?
We are working closely with our local distributor, Mega Selbeg, and plan to maintain stock here in Mongolia for faster delivery. The mining industry urgently needs reliable lifting equipment to avoid operational delays. We also intend to provide technical assistance covering operation, maintenance, and safety to ensure users can maximize the benefits of our products.
What challenges do you face in Mongolia?
Mongolia's landlocked geography presents logistical challenges for us. Air freight remains the most reliable delivery method, while sea shipments often face delays. Additionally, we see a strong need for ongoing training to educate end users on the correct and safe use of our equipment to minimize accidents.
Which sectors in Mongolia buy your products the most?
The mining industry is our primary customer base in Mongolia. We also serve clients in construction, material handling, and logistics sectors, though these are smaller markets by comparison.
How are your sales? Are they growing?
Our sales are steadily increasing, with an estimated growth rate of 10 to 20 percent annually.
Eugen Wagorowski, Senior Sales Manager - Southern & Eastern Europe, Kito Crosby
What can Mongolia learn from your experience in Southern and Eastern Europe?
At Kito Crosby, we don't just manufacture and deliver lifting equipment - we bring decades of experience, especially from the mining sector, which we're eager to share with Mongolia. One key lesson is understanding the true cost of downtime not just financially, but in terms of worker safety.
We're pleased to see that safety standards in Mongolia have improved significantly over the past decade. Protective equipment like helmets and safety shoes, once optional, are now mandatory. This is a positive trend, and we want to support it further by helping reduce workplace accidents through safer equipment and better practices
How do you adapt your product for different regions?
The core applications for our products are the same globally-lifting, moving, and lowering loads safely but regional differences exist in mentality and expectations. That's why we value our partnership with Mega Selbeg in Mongolia. They understand the local market and culture, and together we tailor solutions to fit real-world needs.
While certain advanced safety features may not yet be universally mandated here, we see an opportunity to introduce and promote these standards as part of our commitment to continuous improvement and workplace safety excellence. Through close cooperation, we align our global expertise with Mongolia's local needs.
What industries purchase your products the most, globally and in Mongolia?
Mining is our largest market worldwide and that's true for Mongolia as well. Though our partnership with Mega Selbeg began just four years ago, we've already seen strong demand from the mining sector. Internationally, offshore oil and gas is another major industry for us. While not applicable in Mongolia, it shares many of the same challenges: harsh environments, high safety standards, and the need for reliable equipment. Regardless of location or industry, our priority remains the same protecting people. Human life is equally valuable everywhere.
What are the challenges of working in Mongolia?
Mongolia presents unique challenges, especially with logistics. Ulaanbaatar's traffic and the vast distances across the country require careful planning. Unlike in Germany, where infrastructure is dense, reaching remote areas in Mongolia takes time and effort.
That said, I see huge potential. Mongolia is developing rapidly, with rising safety standards and growing investment in infrastructure and technology. Beyond mining, there are opportunities in green energy, power lines, and construction all of which require safe, reliable lifting solutions.
What are your plans for Kito Crosby in Mongolia?
We aim to continue growing our business here, but safety remains at the heart of that vision. I want to see every workplace equipped with the safest lifting equipment possible. It's not just about business growth it's about making sure workers go home safely at the end of the day.
